Dreaming the Impossible: Unbuilt Britain

Screen Shot 2013-08-19 at 13.17.31

Fascinating BBC documentary looking at ambitious and foresightful projects with the aim of transforming Britain. The first episode looks at two projects designed to combat London’s congestion and pollution problems in different ways:  Joseph Paxton’s ‘Great Victorian Way’ and Geoffrey Jellicoe’s ‘Motopia’. These concepts ultimately led to such schemes as New Towns like Milton Keynes.

My favourite idea is to turn Trafalgar Square into a multi storey car park, and Regent Street into a motorway!
